Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine incorporates many modalities to achieve clinical results. Dr. Bockstedt integrates Acupuncture, Herbal supplements, Tui-na (medical massage), and Food therapy as needed to obtain optimal results for your pet. As a licensed veterinarian, she will also recommend “western” veterinary care, as modern diagnostic tests provide useful information to help her practice TCVM more accurately and effectively. Dr. Bockstedt strongly believes in “integrative medicine”; and that the best clinical results are often achieved by integrating Western and Eastern medicine.
Acupuncture is not usually painful. Over 95% of patients are comfortable during treatment, and many even fall asleep. Dr. Bockstedt has a wide range of sizes of sterile needles to choose from, and she incorporates techniques such as aqua puncture, moxibustion, and electro-acupuncture as needed to tailor the treatment to your pet’s needs.
The first appointment will last around 2 hours, and recheck appointments are 40-60 minutes. Most problems will need at least 4 treatments; though occasionally, with the use of herbal supplements, food therapy and/ or Tui-na, pets do not need to come as often.
